PC overheating CPU&GPU

Hey, I'm just wondering what would cause this? It randomly started overheating the processor (CPU) and graphic card (GPU).

The processor used to run at 40'C or less, the graphic card used to run at 30'C~35'C.

Now, when I play a game I can't because it'll cause so many lag spikes/lag because its running hot etc.

Processor: i5-3570k

Graphic Card: GTX 660Ti

Any idea what would cause this overheating? Now there both running at 80'C both randomly.

It randomly boosted up, any idea what would cause this? Please help! I took my PC to a local shop, just wondering what I should notice with them telling me whats wrong.

Check your heatsink and make sure its not defected or not working right. Also for the cpu make sure your thermal compound is applied right, and if needed replace the thermal compund. Also clean your computer for dust. Also make sure alll of your fans are working correctly!

Hope I could help!

Sorry I only answered for cpu mostly!

Dust build up could cause the increase as could dry thermal paste. The dust essentially adds an extra layer of insulation, so make sure there is no dust present. If dust is not the issue, then it may be the thermal paste. Also make sure the heat-sinks are mounted correctly :)
