You could do that however I don't see the point. Also that you can't crossfire different videocard is incorrect. You can crossfire a 7950 with a 7970 for example. 

Those are on the Same platform though. You can't crossfire a 6XXX and a 7XXX because they are a completely different platform

I can't think of a reason why you'd ever want to do this as the gaming card would be able to cover all bases. I know that LucidLogix software allows you to use both dedicated and integrated GPUs for different purposes, but that's mainly to take advantage of Intel technologies such as QuickSync.

This correct but the Op said 'You can't crossfire different cards' and the 7950 and the 7970 are indeed different.

I had a similar thought, I have a 7790 which I'd prefer to run my desktop, videos, ect. off of and have my 290 run games. Is there a way to do this?
