Hey LTT, im having trouble with NO-IP (free dynamic DNS service) Am i right in saying that the domain it gives me (<no ip domain>) is just a replacement for my Public IP (e.g xxx.xx.xx.xxx so when i try to connect to my ftp i use ftp://xxx.xx.xx.xxx(my ip) and i can access it that way after i put in my username and password. So why when i put ftp://<no ip domain> does it not do anything ? :( (noob btw)

From what I can understand, that's what it's doing.

The problem may lie in your FTP server, or your port forwarding mechanism.

Portforwarding, as Raboo suggested, allows a specific port to be bypassed by your firewall, allowing external access. FTP, port 21, must be port forwarded on your router to allow access through your domain.

Also, doing ftp://xxx.xx.xx.xxx may not yield ideal results, due to browser dependency. Assuming you've already setup your FTP server, try using a client like Transmit, FileZilla, or Cyberduck.

Back to port forwarding. This may depend on the type of router that you use, and requires administrative access to your router's configuration (which should be listed on the router itself, something similar to this). Please reply with your router make/model, as each configuration page is different for every router.
