Data transfer without overwriting

My mom wants to retain the SMS text conversations from her old phone without overwriting what is on her new(-ish) phone.  Is there a way to do that?  I'm modestly tech savvy, but I'm a bit lost on this kind of thing, as phones aren't something I dig into all that much.

It looks like it should work, but it'll probably be a day or two until I get the time to sit down and work at it.  Thanks for the help and I'll give an update when I can.

Well, I FINALLY was able to try out the SMS Backup & Restore and it worked, thankfully.
