This is a question which I will probably explain poorly but ill give it a go.

I have a jellyfin server on a Ubuntu desktop PC I have running as this is all new to me I know its not optimal but it works for me at the moment. however the issue here is that it dosnt have a screen so I always remote into the system, my main PC is running Bazzite so I use remmina to remote into the system. Know this has the issue of always closing all tasks running if I connect to it - specifically I run handbrake on it etc. Now after some trail and error I started using Screen command to detach.

However I have just noticed when doing something from my work laptop using remote connection (windows 11) - it dosnt give me a force shutdown warning on existing programs when I login using this method and everything was still just running as expected, even when using the screen command when I connect using remmina it always stops all programs so I need to restart them.

with this in mind is there a difference between remmina and windows desktop connection which could cause this, IE different protocol or maybe a setting that resets every time?

Thanks

Your main PC is running Bazzite, which is a Linux version. This means you can run ssh on it. This gives you access to the local command line. From the laptop, you can connect using the putty tool (which is essentially an ssh tool for Win-OS). Now go do some homework and figure out how to make these tools work nicely together 😉
