Im looking for a laptop for my folks, they mostly do web browsing, store pictures, and my mom does some light editing with photoshop. It is basically a pc replacement and will likely always be plugged in. The biggest needs are a good large screen and be zippy for browsing. Im assuming extra ram for that and a decent cpu. Of course I would like it to be as budget friendly as possible.  I  never have messed with laptops so I dont follow what is good or not

Is there a reason it needs to be a laptop?

This won't work, we need numbers.

If you don't *need* a laptop and already have monitors, this would be my pick for my Mom. $550.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

I know it's silly I have tried to talk them into the mac mini already. My father is set on a laptop. Budget tops out at about 800 usd. Nice screen is the biggest player if I was to pick any one thing

Cool macbook air then. You can get a new m4 one for $800 with a good deal.

You can buy m1's for half of that which will probably still be a good experience.

Should be noted that keeping it plugged in all the time to 100% will ruin its battery life over time. MacOS has an adaptive mode on by default that will eventually learn it's plugged in all the time and likely reduce the max charge to preserve battery health automatically.
