Hi I am looking to buy a new gaming laptop. With my budget I can buy the following laptops,
1. Strix G16 i7 13th, rtx 4060, 165hz
2. Strix g16 i7 14650hx, rtx 5050, 165hz , 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS
3. Asus Tuf F series  i7 14650hx, rtx 5060, 165hz , 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS
4. Asus Tuf A series Ryzen 9 8940hx, rtx 5060, 165hz , 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS

I am moving more towards the rtx 5060 options as its better than 4060 & 5050. Specifically the A series with Ryzen 9 8940hx as I have heard a lot of bad things about intel i7 13,14 gen chips.
But I am not sure the heating situiation of Ryzen 9 8940hx as there is not much reviews about it online.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

What is your budget?

Location of buying?

The rtx5050 is straight up junk and basically ewaste out of the box.

The 13the and 14th gen degradation does happen on laptop chips but is more rare.

Thr 8940hx is basically the samr as the 7940hx

I currently am in Saudi Arabia and laptops are a bit expensive here and there are no open box modal and things like that here. My budget is around 5.2K Riyal (1385.71 USD).

Based on the information here, the 8940HX model is the obvious choice. That said, I would highly recommend taking a deeper look into the displays on these various laptops - and I mean go beyond simply learning that it's IPS or OLED or whatever.

I've admittedly never owned a gaming laptop, but I seriously considered buying one a few years ago and I ended up doing a whole bunch of research into the display quality of various laptops, and one thing I learned is that display quality can be a real crapshoot when it comes to laptops in this price range, so you need to be careful. The laptop with the better CPU/GPU might not actually give a better overall experience if it's got a display with terrible colors, contrast, or response times. (Hell, there are even some gaming laptops that don't have proper full-range VRR, which is insane to me in 2025.)

"TV Gaming" PC: Ryzen 5 5600 :: 32GB DDR4-3200 :: RTX 2070 Super :: 500GB PCIe 3.0 SSD :: 1.5TB of SATA SSDs :: Windows 11

"Desk Gaming" PC: i5-4690K :: 16GB DDR3-1600 :: RX 560D 4GB :: 500GB SATA SSD :: Linux Mint 22

Office PC: Dell Pro 14 :: Ultra 7 268V :: 32GB DDR5-8533 :: 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe :: 6TB HDD :: Windows 11

Laptop: Dell Latitude 15.6" :: i5-4200U :: 8GB DDR3-1600 :: 500GB SATA SSD :: Linux Mint 22

Primary NAS: i5-7500 :: 16GB DDR4-2133 :: 250GB SSD :: 8TB HDD :: TrueNAS Scale 24.10

Web Server/Backup NAS: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B :: 2GB RAM :: 64GB microSD card :: 8TB HDD :: Raspberry Pi OS

Other tech stuff: iPad Pro M4 13" :: Samsung Galaxy A15 4GB :: 2022 Kindle Fire HD 7 :: PS4 Slim w/ 1TB SSD :: OG Nintendo Switch

Oh I am not sure of the details of the displays of the laptops. I have to do a bit of research about it as I am a novice. You saying 8940HX model is the obvious choice, but I have heard that these ryzen cpu can get hot very much as compared to intel ones but intel i7 13th,14th gen have a bad rep for failing.

Heat control is going to be more down to laptop model than the chip itself (i.e., has the laptop manufacturer designed a good cooling system for the laptop). Even very low-power CPUs can throttle/have thermal issues if the cooling system is poorly designed.

Much like with the displays, this is something where you really need to find a good professional review of the particular model in question in order to know if heat is actually an issue.

Yes you are right. I have tried to find about the reviews but people mostly have reviewed the intel chip or the ones with lower ryzen cpu in this modal. But i guess cooling system will be the same regardless of the modal so I will see

There is a 5th option Lenovo LOQ with i7 14th gen rtx 5060. But if you search LOQ motherboard issues in reddit, there was a time where a lot of 2024 modals motherboards were faulty. Am not sure if they fixed it yet or not.
