Okay, I see the edit to your post.

Yes, that connector you found should work, and still give you full USB 3.0 speeds.

That is a Type C to USB 3.0 adapter. A "Gen 1 connector" would look very different. It would be for hooking up USB 1.0/1.1, and would be compatible with the USB 2.0 headers on the board.

Hi Guys,

I have a X570 mobo and a 5800x3D here ready to go in a case, but the front USB is broken, rather than buying a whole new motherboard, is there an adapter I can get to plug the case's front USB into an internal USB header rather than the normal 19 pin connector?

Plenty types yeah, theres this kind of one for standard usb but you will lose the USB 3.0 capabilities

Or one that plugs into a USB C slot, however you may not have one on your motherboard or may want to use it for any actual USB C ports you may have but the option is there

Nice, thanks, that's just what I need, there's a USB 3.2 Gen 2 front panel connector on the motherboard but the case I want to use (Meshify C) only has old school Gen 1 connector, can I use that?

Will something like this work?

The Meshify C has a USB 3.0 front panel with a 19 pin connector.

Are you looking at the front panel connector for the power button?

Sorry mate, didn't mean to be confusing,  I was just going off what the motherboard called it, It called the 19 pin connector "USB 3.1 Gen 1" and the USB C connector "USB 3.1 Gen 2".

Anyway, I appreciate all your help, I'll grab that now, you've save me a chunk of change on a new motherboard. 😄

I see. Yes, "USB 3.1 Gen 1" is an official name for what is colloquially called "USB 3.0." It just means that the ports will run at the original 5 Gbps speed. "USB 3.1 Gen 2" has the 10 Gbps speed. You'll also see "USB 3.2 Gen 1," which from an end-user perspective is the same as USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1.

It has to do with the technical standards used in the board, but the connectors are all the same (unless you count the Type C header, which is technically a "Type E" connector, but is almost always used for hooking up a Type C port, so it's colloquially called a Type C header).

Glad I could help!
