i need help

i have a 1070 8 gb ram and Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3192 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) with lenovo sky bay motherboard the build is shit. but its kinda old so i was thinking to upgrade to a i7 6700K and 16bg ram or 32 gb ram is that a good choice

Whether or not this is a good choice is going to depend on the pricing of the parts in your region. The i7 6700K is slower than even low-end parts today, so you'd want to get it for a very low price compared to getting new hardware to have it make sense.

I'd probably grab a new CPU/mobo/RAM setup, along with a PSU and case and SSD...

 

Nm, just save up for a new machine.  Bring the 1070 over as a placeholder until you can afford a GPU.

 

Was this a prebuilt?   Regardless, the CPU is 10 years old and anything that fits that mobo will be 9-10 years old and perform just as poorly in todays usages.

 

Basically, if what you have doesn't cut it... nothing you can "upgrade" to will either.

 

UNless you want to throw another 8GB RAM in and move to a SATA SSD (assuming you only have harddrives).

 

That's about all I would recommend throwing at your current build.  Sorry.

The CPU cost about 50 dolalr

Just 16GB.  Add another kit or stick of 8GB, matching what you have.

Should meet Cyberpunk's minimum specs...

It's not.  Your motherboard can only use that generation of CPUs that the 6500 and 6700k are part of.  

 

The absolute best CPU your motherboard can run is the 6700K.

If it's cheaper, you could get the regular i7 6700, without the K ending. They're very similar in performance.

 

Otherwise, you'd need to do a complete upgrade to a new system.

Upgrading your current system is mostly going to be a waste of money, I'd save your money and look for a more modern second hand system or parts.  realistically any 6th gen cpu is obsolete as its 10 years old. Adding a newer GPU wouldn't work as it would bottleneck and upgrading the cpu using the same motherboard will only give you a small improvement in games. I'd look into getting a new motherboard + cpu + ram as a starting point, then get a new GPU and potentially a new PSU (your old one might not be enough to power a new gpu+cpu combo)  when you have enough money
