I saw the 5080 Doom edition being sold by Bethesda and I was wondering what people thought of it. I haven't seen much talk about it, but I can already see that it's not really worth what they are asking. The only reason as to why I am considering buying this is due to availability being nonexistent for the 5000 series cards. I think if I were to get it then it would be around 2200 dollars. Including the game + premium content, shirt, mouse pad, yellow card replica, GPU, and taxes as well as shipping.

So, I want to know what you guys think about the bundle. Obviously getting a 5090 is impossible at least for a while. Hence my dilemma.

Thoughts? Depends how much it affects your purchase choice, because if you're getting 5080 anyway, it doesn't really matter if it's DOOM Edition or not.

2200$? Shouldn't 5080 cost 1400$ pre-tax? That's 800$ extra for merch and taxes.

I think it's an absolutely stupid purchase.  Price is out of wack on all levels.

Just considering it says a lot. You'll probably get it, cuz if you are asking here you're already a click away.   But since you mentioned a 5090, you are already in the quicksand.

You'd be feeding the beast and justifying their greed.

I agree with what you are saying, but I don't even have a pc. I've been waiting years always hearing, "just wait for the next gen", and "this gpu from _ will be better so hold on." I am tired of waiting. The 4000 series is just as expensive as the 5000 so I believe the rational choice is to get the newer one regardless of whether it justifies their greed, because the scalpers are already doing that. They don't care about gamers anymore. We all know that. No matter what we do it won't matter. So yeah. I agree it is dumb but I want a pc now. From what I see the Rog Astral is 1700 dollars, which is the model used for the doom edition.

Why did you never just buy a mid-range machine so you had a PC?

Why are you spending 2x the cost of the gpu just to get one?

There are a dozen other gpus to buy.

Makes no sense.  But this is your wallet, so it doesn't have to for me.

Buy that 5080 then.

Nah I won't lol. It's Bethesda and we have all seen what they have done before with other pre orders. Either way buying a mid-range PC makes no sense for what I plan to use it for. I have a laptop for that reason. It's struggling, but it got the job done for a long time. Thank you for responding to my post anyways. Regarding other GPU options, I haven't had anyone mention any other GPUs besides AMD and Nvidia. If you can recommend me options, you believe are as good as these two then please do so! Availability is the biggest issue I have regarding acquiring a GPU, but I can at least wait till next year. The 5080 Super is also rumored to drop by the end of this year, so I might just aim to buy one of those if I can beat the scalpers.
