Quick Start Guide - NFS@Home

NFS@Home has been announced to be the Sprint project for the 2026 Pentathlon! The sprint will run for the final three days of the event.

Let's get setup!

 

Account Setup

1. First, if you have not already, download and install the BOINC manager here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

 

2. Visit the NFS@Home site and create an account. Use the same email and username that you have used for other BOINC projects.

3. Under the community section on the right side of page, click "Find a team."

 

4. Search for "Linus" and click on "LinusTechTips_Team" when it appears. Then click "Join this team" on the next page.

 

Connect NFS to your BOINC manager

 

1. Click "Add Project"

 

2. Select "NFS@Home", then click "Next"

 

3. Select "Yes, existing user" and enter your account credentials. Then click "Next".

 

4. NFS@Home should now appear in your BOINC Manager and begin running tasks once it downloads all the necessary files. Make sure your other projects are set to "No new tasks" if you only want NFS to run.
