FX-6300 Stuttering / Dropping frames randomly

Go to solution Solved by Chris_nz,

I see, I have Had this problem before with a MSIR7770 Playing the witcher 2, finally got sorted with a driver update, but it was still noticeable

I would suggested to see if you have the latest drivers ( pretty sure you would ) also try overclocking the gpu slightly, it helped me in someway with my old card, try use MSI afterburner and increase the power limit to 20+

Good Luck ^^

Hello, I've been experiencing trouble with an AMD FX-6300

When playing games it stutters for a while for example in World of Warcraft it drops for a while to 30 for like 30 seconds or more in random situations like staring at a wall then goes back up to 60. Just standing around looking at the same spot.

I've been experiencing heat issues but people told me that I shouldn't trust AMD temperture sensors since they suck. (Thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/112122-amd-fx-6300-temperature-spiking/)

I don't think it's the heat since it has a after market cooler plus it isn't overclocked.

Here are my specs: http://imgur.com/tVo9rgK,50M9jF2#1 (upgraded the 6870 for a gtx 480)

What do you guys think it is?

Am I Correct in looking at your Link, you have 2 monitors hooked up to your PC? one aat 1600x1200 res and one @ 1080p?

Try turning off one of those and make it only a single display, also, warcraft can be unreliable, was there alot of people around? were you flying through a town?

also stuttering may not be the CPU, it could also be the GPU, maybe try lowering your graphics settings as well,

good luck

It happens randomly. Even when I'm alone.

For the GPU I upgraded from a HD 6870 1gb to a gtx 480 2gb and it happens on both GPUs so I ruled that out. I play on medium settings.

I tried Bioshock Infinite and it happens from time to time. a fast stutter like a half a second pause when entering new areas or sometimes moving the camera to the opposite direction.

Yeah I also read about World of Warcraft running bad on low end CPUs

I'm going to try overclocking too. Thanks for the answer I really appreciate it!
