Hello lads and ladettes, I’ve got a ryzen 5 3600 and a rtx 2070. I’ll upgrade my ram from 16 to 32 gigs soon and I was wandering if there is an am4 cpu  that’s worth the upgrade. Playing on 1440, all kinds of genres -fps ,rpgs , indie games. I’ve got eyes on a tray 5700x for 125€ or a box 5800x for 160. Is it even worth upgrading in terms of performance, and strict fps count ? I know a new gpu would go a long way but that’s not in my budget right now.

It would help, but don't expect crazy more FPS, since GPUs are the main aspect of FPS in a game. However, if a CPU is on sale, you could get it to upgrade, then get the GPU later.

It would be a noticeable upgrade.

A 5700x3d would be the best of you're looking for smoothes and the option to upgrade your GPU in a year or two.

Incremental. I personally would not bother upgrading but it's quite possible that your wants / needs may be different. In most games at 1440p, the bottleneck would be the graphics card and you'd be hard-pressed to notice a difference between your 3600 and the 5700x or 5800x most of the time.

I mean whats your specific games? At 1440p GPU should be the first one to be upgraded most of the time.
