$300 is a rough budget.

I would personally recommend you buy a cheap stereo amplifier like the SMSL A50 and look on Facebook Marketplace for a set of tower speakers for the last $200.

You'll be much more satisfied by the overall sound of good-quality 2.0 speakers than a compromised, super budget soundbar+sub package.

For example, if I search "Pioneer speakers" in my local FB Marketplace, I can see a ton of people selling the legendary Andrew Jones Pioneer speakers for $100-$150 and it will demolish any new package you might find at this price.

Well, I can't say it's the best you'll find for under $300, but I got one of these for my sister... but she isn't exactly an audiophile.  So take it with a grain of salt and the few hours I spent looking for one at an affordable price:  YAMAHA ATS-2090

But I'm just talking out my ass.
