Black screen during GPU update (AMD)

Go to solution Solved by AndrewAsd,

Check debug LEDs if you have them. They'll be able to indicate what's wrong.

Next thing on the list would be clearing CMOS, it could be a button, jumper or you can do it by unplugging the PC, pressing power button to drain capacitors and removing the CMOS battery from the socket for about a minute then putting it back in and starting your pc.

If that doesn't work then it'd probably best to check all your connections, perhaps unplug components that aren't necessary for the PC to get to the bios, things like case fans and storage and try booting without them to see if anything changes.

Good afternoon, I’m at a brick wall.

so, I have just replaced my 2070 Super with a 3080,

It initially booted up absolutely fine, no issues, I thought the first thing I should do would be to update the driver to the latest using Gefore I selected a clean install.

about 1minute in, the screen just went black. I left it for 5-10minutes and nothing happened.

I tried a hard reset, nothing not even bios.

I swapped back to my 2070Super and exactly the same. No screen no bios, strangely, I have no lights on my keyboard now either so can’t try the Win/Shft/CtrlB, and also all the fans (gpu) seem to be on full.

I have tried turning off and back on four or five times but still nothing.

Being AMD I have no integrated graphics so can’t boot into safe mode.

any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you. I had also upgraded my power supply and added a SSD SATA, I checked the debug light and the red CPU one was on. So I checked the CPU power connector both ends, took out and reseated and boom, fired straight up. THANK YOU!
