Been dealing with an issue as of recently where my mic input keeps changing after I switch it in the nvidia overlay so I can't use the right input when clipping or recording no clue why it happens but it keeps doing it been trying to look around in windows settings and seeing if changing my default mic or windows input would change anything and no I feel like I'm a little out of options

Windows has the annoying habit of making the newest connected device the default, so if you ever switch things around, that could mess things up. The same device on a different USB port often also counts as a "new" or different device. So try to always connect things to the same port as before. It might help to disable any sound devices you never use in Windows control panel.

agreed.  also disable the microphone of any devices that you dont use.  i typically have airpods in my head and noticed crazy static - i just disabled the microphone "feature" and they've worked fine since
