Hey everyone i want to repaste my laptop (5 year old, GPU: RX560X, CPU:Ryzen 5 3550h) and some people use thermal pads for the VRMs and liquid metal for the CPU. I feel like its a bit overkill, am I able to repaste everything (CPU, GPU, VRMs) just with a 1g tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or some different paste.

Cpu and GPU? Absolutley. VRMs, maybe. I repasted my CPU with just a tiny bit of a tube of Arctic mx4 (no dedicated GPU).

As far as the VRMs go, it depends on how they are cooled right now. Some laptops don't even actively cool the VRMs, (the heat pipes aren't connected to them) so there is nothing to repaste, some use individual heatsinks, which might be difficult to do with just paste.

Honestly, I would open the laptop up and see how the current VRMs are cooled. They may not even need paste at all. If they currently are squished against a heatsink, you could maybe get away with using paste, but if they currently have some form of pad, then I would get PTM thermal pads.

If you are going to get thermal pads for the VRMs then imo you should probably just put the pads on everything, they are a bit better than just paste, and if you need a pad for the VRM anyways you may aswell.
