New GPU recommendation

So I currently have a 3080 in my build, but with my tax return I'm hoping to completely upgrade my system. The only thing I'm on the fence about is my GPU, I would like a 4080 but they aren't being made any further. I found a ROG STRIX 4080 Super on Walmarts website for 1250, but the validity of that posting is questionable to me. So my other option was to go with the 7900xtx, but I don't know if that's worth it from the 3080.

 

So just some input would be appreciated.

CES is coming up in 4 days.  Nvidia will have a keynote announcing the new RTX 5000 lineup.

Wait until then, check the 5080 prices or check back on 4080 prices after the RTX 5000 announcement 🙂

There will also be people selling their 4080's as they upgrade to the 5090 if you dont mind going used.

As an aside, redo your withholding and exemption settings.

 

If your return is enough for that, you are doing it wrong.

 

7900xtx beats a 3080 by what a 4080 super does in raster.  You give up RTX really but for all else the 7900xtx is a much better buy, vastly cheaper.

 

Depending on what you want to spend, the 5080 is going to be strong.  But expensive.
