Budget (including currency): £400 (£750 if a GPU is to be included)

Country: United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  Heavy internet browsing GTA 5 (And 6 when that comes out, I'm well aware we don't know specs as of yet) and a handful of other semi ancient titles and Train Sim etc etc and possibly new titles if they interest me

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB 3600MHZ DDR4 RAM, MSi B550 Gaming Plus, AMD Ryzen 6600 GPU, 650w PSU, 1080P 165HZ Refresh rate monitor

Okay, so I am planning to jump ship to AM5. As of course, support for AM4 will end soon. BUT, I was thinking more a platform upgrade and waiting out the GPU. Thought there is a 7600XT 16gb that goes for around £320 in the UK. So I guess my question is, do I jump ship now or later? I'm unsure if "Tarrifs" will affect me, as I'm UK based but of course god knows what our "leaders" plan

I don't think its a good idea to ditch AM4 just yet, the 5700x3d is still a significant upgrade over the 5600x and you seem to have decent power headroom too so for now i think the best upgrade plan is

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CN2Jb2

its cutting very close to the 650 power limit but it should be fine. if your 32GB is 2 16gb sticks you can slot the 8gig sticks for 24gb per channel or a total of 48gb. which should allow you to play even future titles with your tabs open.

but i dont think you need so much horsepower for what you play, a slower pc should fit you needs so keep that in mind but for the budget this is the max performance that you can get.

Thank you, that's actually a great little upgrade package. Though, I'm still on the fence as to whether stay AM4 for now. Though I do understand what you mean, it's just more of what are the implications when AMD drops support for AM4 etc, plus would be nice to have a spring board into the "new" socket
