so i have a friend who is currently running a ryzen 3900x alongside an 8 gig R9 390 sapphire nitro gpu and i believe an 850 watt PSU. my friend is on disability benefirs so buying  new in box gpu is outta the question for him i asked him his budget he said 100$ max he games at 1080p 60hz the only gpu i can think of that fits his price rance of 50-110$ or less is the 8gig rx 580 any ideas what GPU i should recommend for him? i feel like the 1050TI is too low end of a gpu for what he plas doom eternal stray gta 5 and cyberpunk and lastly lies of p and the last of us

Keep the R9 390. Buy $100 card isn't gonna be significantly better than what he's using.

You could have left that out and it would have made no difference in our recommendations

 

So my recommendation is to do absolutely nothing because going by what you have said, your friend did not seem to have asked for a new graphics card

 

If he did, you might want to research how much you can realisticly get for selling his R9 390. And then factor that into the purchase budget. Sell the 390 after he gets the new card, to recoup the extra that you added for the purchase.

 

As for what you can get for $x on the used market, I wont be able to help. Good luck
