Over the last 2 months my computer has started to hang upon shut down.  To the point that I need to power down using the power button.  I have tried the following:

- Re-intalled windows 11

- Cleared TPM on both Bios and Windows 11. This was done because I notice SCEP certificate Enrollment errors. I think the errors might be causing some of the issues.

- updated bios to newest version

- ran disk checker and memory checker to see if hardware issues

- Ran scannow in cmd promp

- I will be turning of fast start for startup

I seem to be able to restart no problem but it is the shut down that causes the hanging.  Also putting the computer to sleep causes no issues. Sometimes doing a restart and then shutting down works.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

System:

MSI B450 Gaming Plus MB

Ryzen 7 5800X

Radeon 6700XT

Can't remember the hard drives will have to add later (NvME drive and 2 SSD)

On like the shutdown prompt?

Like this one?:

In that case it could be a waiting for a process, no idea what however

Have you looked in Windows Event Viewer? I believe there is a sub category or something called system logs

Maybe look at this reddit thread?

You should be able to force a shutdown by holding down the power button until the device shuts down. Launch the app running in the tab and disable it, but once you boot back up check the task manager app to see if there are any unnecessary apps set to run in the start up tab and disable them, Background apps such as this can cause the PC to hang when shutting down if they don’t end correctly.
