Help With Dash Cam

Go to solution Solved by Bruuuh,

Thanks for the input, I ended up getting it working, and what I needed was a wire crimper, I got one at a local store and it works, I previously tried to use plyers and needle nose plyers, and I thought it worked, but I truly couldn't crimp it enough without the specific tool.

So setting it up was actually easy, there are plenty of good tutorials out there that are great to set it up, but non of them truly tell you how the crimp should be, they all say, "you can use plyers if you don't have this random tool nobody ever has". But I had the fuse taps in the right spot and everything else worked, but I didn't  have the wire connected to the wire tap crimped hard enough.

Random tip though, if you use chat GPT 4o, send it a picture of your manual and explain what you are doing it will actually tell you good info that is so easy to understand compared to the generic response from the YT videos, can't get more personal then having AI tell you exactly how to do it.

The other day I bought a VIOFO A229 Pro 3CH, and I have the hardware kit. I need some help setting it up, I have a Toyota Camery 2005, I have all the wiring down, but I can't get power from the cable. I thought I had the right fuses but I guess not because I have no power. I tested the non hardware kit and the dashcam works fine. So the problem is somewhere between the what fuses I am using. Attached is a photo of the fuses in my manual.

I don't have my manual handy but if I remember correctly they want a constant power source and then a switched power.  I would use fuse 16 for your door1 fuse as constant power.  The wireless remote and door lock system stays alive at all times even when the car is off.  For switched power any of the fuses hooked to a system that only powers on when the car is running and is not critical (25,27,28,29,38).

I ended up using a fuse tap to just piggyback off the existing fuse in the box instead of tapping into the wire behind the panel.  Something like;  https://www.autozone.com/electrical-and-lighting/fuse-and-accessories/p/bussmann-atm-fuse-tap/32416_0_0?searchText=fuse+tap
