Just upgraded my pc, did a clean install of the Windows, and now having this issue.

So I have a regular headset with a built-in microphone with a TRRS 3.5mm jack connector. It is connected to the back of the pc to the motherboard through the splitter (mic and headphones) that came with the headset.
The problem is, the headphones are working fine, I can hear everything, but the mic barely makes any noise, and no one can hear me in Discord, I've tried some Windows standard recording tools and couldn't hear anything.

I've tried to re-install audio drivers - but nothing
Tried to increase the volume and boost to the maximum in Sound -> Recording -> my mic -> Properties -> Levels - nothing
Tried to connect to the front panel which has a single input socket for TRRS - still nothing

Connected just for a test to my Macbook - and it worked just fine and the microphone worked.
Also tested with the Bluetooth headset that I grabbed and with a microphone on those worked just fine and in Discord I was audible.

So basically I know that this microphone is working, but not when it is connected to the pc through Motherboard or front panel. But at the same time output sound works with no issues in both cases.
What could be the problem?

i would bet that the spliter is the problem. usually are. you can do different tests to see if it the adapter/spliter. like using another wired headset or if you have a multimeter you can test the resistance for the microphone on the mic then test the same on the spliter.usual pintout for spliters and TRRS jacks

if you want to test the microphone input on the pc you can always use a AUX cable and just connect the input to your phone and try playing music or something and see if you still get the same problem like low volume and such.

The problem is I have a different splitter and it was acting the same when I tried. Plus before the change of hardware this splitter was working with no issues
