Hey there,

My PC of around 3 years, has been running slower than ever recently and its health is declining. I've suddenly been receiving "low video memory" errors and I was wondering what I should do.

I was wondering if theres any troubleshooting I can do to see what's slowing it down and if I need to make any hardware upgrades (however I am on a very slim budget). I am open to any suggestions.

Also wondering if theres any cleaning up I can do to stop any possible malware or bloatware. I have stuff like Avast but it says nothing detected as well with the Windows Defender.

Thanks for any help.

I suggest you do what @LloydLynx suggested, but also to get rid of Avast. Avast has basically become bloatware, as far as I know. Windows Defender suits most people's use cases, and I think it's safe to presume yours too.

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

The specs of your PC would be useful to help you.

Low video memory error can be because your GPU has not enough VRAM but also may be caused by incorrect virtual memory allocation.

Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running, To see how much of each resource you're using, open the Task Manager by searching for it in the Start menu or by pressing Control, Alt, and Delete simultaneously on your keyboard.
