Decent KM(KVM) Switch?

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

the level1techs KVM stuff is very high quality very low production run stuff that's been tested in just about every way wendell could conceieve of. all that is a very costly endavour.

as for the cheap garbage.. there's just a very high base cost for hardware that has zero mainstream appeal, and could see maybe a handful of deployments per hundreds of corporate seats as well.

if you cant spare the 50 bucks this costs.. just plug your keyboard and mouse into a USB hub, and run two usb extensions to your desk and plug them back and forth as necessary.

Hellos

Im looking at using two pcs with one keyboard and im just learning about this 40 year old tech

Ive heard KVM switches or KM switches are the way to go but the ones ive seen are hundreds of pounds, even a 4 port km switch is $200 on Level1 techs store.

https://www.store.level1techs.com/products/p/4-port-km-switch-with-usb-32-gen-1-mouse-roaming-function

Ive also seen £50 version on amazon but it looks alot different and still quite expensive for what it is?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Port-USB-KM-Switch/dp/B00GIW1IO6?th=1

Anywho, i need direction please for products available in the UK/Europe

The monitor im using for both PC's has 1x Display port and 2x HDMi ports which are plugged into the respective pcs directly so dont need a kVm with video or sound really just USB at least 2 for keyboard and mouse, more would be a luxury (picture for refrence) Does the monitor have an inbullt KVM?

Price range is probably £50ish the switch will sit under monitor so i dont mind a button switch

Thanks in Advance

So that £50 anazon thingy would do the job well enough?

The monitor has a two usb port hub on it if that helps, so could i plug the mouse and keyboard into the monitor and then...a usb hub or spliter?

Sounds like a lot of added latency?
