Laptop upgrade???

I am currently attending university studying for my BS in Mechanical Engineering.

I have a non-gaming laptop that I use for school and games.

The only programs that put a strain on my system are SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and Overwatch(Low setting, 60%resolution, 70 fps)

I've been wanting to upgrade from 256 GB to 1 TB, and possibly upgrade my ram as well. Will upgrading my ram help these 3 programs run better? Should I take a different approach like switching drivers?

Thx and here are the specs.

HP Laptop 15 ef1000

AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics            2.00 GHz

512 GB of Dedicated GPU Memory

12.0 GB @ 2667 MT/s

Windows 11 Home

P.S

The motherboard supports up to 32 GB.

I'm currently using the default HP drivers, but there are AMD drivers for the CPU.
