Hello!

Just finished my most recent build last weekend and except for the obligatory oopsie (a PSU cable not plugged in correctly this time) it's been working flawlessly.

For some backstory, when the build was complete but pre-OS installation, i updated the BIOS and tried setting the EXPO profile and change the Ram speed to 6000 instead of 4800 which was the Default setting. After this i started the windows installation but about halfway through the PC would start powercycling randomly (I have a branch outlet that handles idle power to my monitors when the pc is on/off which was clicking back and forth meaning the PC was basically just turning on and off).

After trying to install windows a couple of times but over and over being interrupted with the same type of issue i assumed it was the RAM being upset so i went back and set the speed down to 5200 which has since worked fine. Now that all the windows updates are done, the benchmarks are all showing good performance and everything is showing green light i'd like to go back to trying to set the RAM to it's preferred speed but since it's my first time really looking into any type of overclocking, i'm a bit lost on what's important and not.

Looking around and reading a bit gives a pretty wide margin of "tweak these 30 different parameters of voltage and whatnot" and "i just clicked EXPO and set the speed to X and it works". What should i expect to have to tweak or not? Is there something special to think about? I'd appreciate any and all advice so i don't just randomly start fucking around with settings for no reason.

Cheers!

Ideally, you should be able to just set EXPO (try multiple profiles, if multiple profiles are available) and forget about it, but since XMP/EXPO are a form of overclocking you can never 100% guarantee it will work. That said, I don't think I've seen anyone with a 7800X3D say that it could not achieve 6000. These CPUs are supposed to top out around 6400/6600 without changing the ratio.

What slots are you using?

Ram is installed in 2/4, funnily enough, when i first looked into the EXPO profiles it only looked like i had one to choose from, the other one was not available to choose from iirc.

Edit: As i thought, there's only profile 1 to choose from :l
