Budget (including currency): EUR 200

Country:  Germany/Europe

Hello. I am not very familiar with rack mounted equipment. I am looking for a 24 port gigabit switch (i don't mind more ports) on a budget. I don't need SFP (don't mind it), I don't need VLans and ideally I would like an unmanaged switch to keep things as simple as possible. If there is such a thing as a rack mounted router with 24 ports I would love to consider that as well.

This is what i have currently found with my limited knowledge.

TP-Link TL-SG3428 24-Port Gigabit L2 Managed Network LAN Switch with 4 SFP Slots (19 Inch Rack Mounting, Central Cloud Management, Omada SDN, IPv6, QoS, IGMP, LAN) Black, Business Network https://amzn.eu/d/bDzxnBw

Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

There's no complicated magic about unmanaged rackmount switches just because they're in a 19" form factor, they're functionally no different from small throwdown switches that run off of AC adapters.

If you just want 24 umanaged Gigabit ports, and don't want any layer 3 features or PoE, get something like a TP-Link SG1024S.

A 24 port switch should be easy to find in rack mount form.  Also keep in mind though, you can just use rack mount shelves.  My "router" is just setting on a rack shelf, and then the access points are in various locations in the house.  I use the shelves as it was easier than limiting myself to rack formated hardware.

Just a quick follow-up question. Are there any major negatives to getting an unmanaged switch? Will I be missing on something major? Thanks.

They don't do any fancy VLAN or QoS stuff, but you said you're not doing that anyway.

An unmanaged switch will simply give you more network ports for plugging stuff in.
