Hi Crowd,

I’m looking for an affordable, well built headset for my son to use at school. He is on his 4th headset already and I decided to bite the bullet and finally get him something better that’s the standard “Amazon recommended” fare.

He uses an iPad at school, and a pc at home so it needs to be able to connect to both. The main issue is that he has them on almost constantly since he has ADHD and having music on helps him focus, so they need to be able to stand to all the abuse a 12 year old can dish out and have a decent battery life. Sound quality is probably secondary in my opinion.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I had HyperX clouds. They're a solid aluminum construction that has some heft to it. They should last a while as mine lasted me some 8 years at least. I think HyperX have moved onto Clouds 3. After 8 years the detachable mic died. I need one so I needed a replacement but for audio only still great. I'd recommend them to people who don't really take care of headsets. Recommended to a friend of mine and he's been using his Cloud 2's for years now as well.

Nice cheap pad replacements as well.

Is battery a must or can he just use jacks? A wireless version also exists.

Headset? Is your son using voice chat on the iPad?

I think your son should have a dedicated set of Bluetooth headphones for the iPad and then a wired set of headphones shared between the PC and Switch. I don't know anything about ADHD, but surely it cannot be a hassle to use the same wired headphones between PC and Switch. If it's simply a matter of convenience and not "his brain literally cannot handle this juggling act" then your son can suck it up and deal with wires.
