Copilot laptop

Just looking for some recommendations on which copilot laptop I should go for.  I'm a hobbyist and my curiosity senses are tingling.

 

Questions I have are: 

Does VM work on copilot? 

Does gamepass cloud work? And controller?

 

What I'm looking for is something not too big, I can use in my lap long term.  I like to sit on my balcony, so I need to be able to read what's on the screen.

Editing videos.

Battery life is important, backlit keyboard.  My max is $1499-1699 cad.  Bestbuy will prob be where I buy it.
