They're called Environment Variables. And yes, you can make your own. 

Here you go.

 

That guide works for Windows 8 even though it's for Vista, so I'm sure it works the same with 7 too.

Hello forum... Nice to see you again :)

 

I was wondering if it was possible to change / remove / make these sort of shortcuts (%systemroot% / %appdata% etc.)

I'm playing around with a Call of Duty 4 server at the moment, and instead of going all the through my system to my steam folder and then into the CoD4 folder, then maybe i could make one of these shortcuts myself? Maybe call it "%CoD4%" ?

 

If it's not possible then... Well... Never mind... Just asking...

I'm full of questions :O
