Long story short, brought new monitor ( Samsung Odyssey G6 240hz 1440p 27 inch ). I have other one Asus VG27VQM 27 inch 1080 240hz as well ). Using Odyssey as an primary, and Asus as an secondary. Can't make fucking things to work properly, PC is always booting on second monitor as it is primary one, monitor identification is right, Odyssey is 1, and Asus is 2 in both Nvidia Control panel and Display settings. Checked cables in GPU as well, DisplayPort1 is in Samsung and DisplayPort2 is in Asus, no problem there at all, idk tf is going on.

You can make your "secondary" monitor be the primary in basically any modern OS.

The true question I want to ask you, though, is if you're talking about Windows itself, or the POST and BIOS screens.

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

Windows is ok like i said, everything there works fine. Odyssey is identified as 1, it is set to be primary, Asus is 2, no problem in windows at all. I was using dual monitor setup before i upgraded to 1440p as well, no problem with dual 1080p ones, tho, was using Asus as an primary and Zowie ( i sold that one ) as an secondary, Bios was booting normally on Asus, but now, it boots on Asus while it's secondary, that's my issue xD

Have you tried unplugging your ASUS monitor, rebooting until POST pops up on the primary, and then reconnecting it?

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

Yup, doesn't work, tho, i think the problem might be of another nature actually. Odyssey is like 2 in 1 monitor, TV and monitor in 1, it has Samsung's OS that they are using for TVs, i even got an remote, you can pretty much boot monitor with an remote ( yes, i even got an USB type C remote with monitor ) and use it without PC, it has apps like netflix and stuff. From what i saw in app so far, Monitor is considered ,,primary" as an TV then as an monitor itself, like i need to manually enter inside system and switch source to PC in order to get my PC picture, my theory is kind of that the since Odyssey ,,can't launch" PC alone, power switches to asus first, then he boots Samsung into PC immidetly if that makes sense, or to better explain it, when i boot PC, Asus will pop BIOS screen then after then Samsung will turn on Windows ,,Welcome" screen afterwards. Again, on windows side, everything works fine lol.

I'd assume they have.

Tried everything basiclly, switched GPU ports, tried even diffirent DisplayPort cables, nothing works, PC still boots BIOS on secondary monitor while everything Windows related goes on Odyssey.

Out of curiosity, is it an issue that it does this? If it is an issue, why?

For example, I got a monitor mounted vertically (rotated 90 degrees) and the other is mounted horizontally. When I boot normally, there is no issue since I wait for Windows to appear. But if I need to access the BIOS, my vertical monitor is the one on which the BIOS boots and it is awkward to navigate the BIOS sideways. I'd really appreciate booting the BIOS on the horizontal monitor.

From the information I gathered over the years, it seems that the GPU itself has some kind of memory for assigning monitors. Usually, the first monitor you plug into the GPU becomes #1 and stays #1 as long as you use it, even if you switch cables and/or ports. If you plug two monitors at first boot, I think it chooses the one plugged into the HDMI port as #1 but it may be at random too.

As for how to change the order... still did not find how. I just know that rebooting and playing around with cables and ports do not have any effect. The only way that works if to use two new monitors and plugging them one at a time in the correct order and then never using the old ones on that computer. Yes, this is impractical.

Until someone tells us how to clear the GPU's memory for the monitor identification, I have no solution.

Hope that helps 🙂

Tried that already, checked every single DisplayPort, doesn't work, like i said in one of my previous posts, when Odyssey only is plugged, it starts normally aka BIOS on Odyssey but it does not work on dual monitor at all, can't figure it out tf is going on tbh. My guess is that the Samsung's OS is perhaps preventing Monitor to start immidetly so it switches to Asus, but it is kind of nonsense since it boots normally with single monitor setup without any Samsung OS interruption tho, lol.

Update on this topic, somehow sorted out problem, bios is now turning on Odyssey without a problem, but now, Ty God, one problem creates another, Odyssey is now Monitor 2 and Asus is 1

Lol. This is totally Windows 😛

Does the numbering really matters ? When you are in Windows, you can always assign #2 as primary.
