Hey everyone,

With the recent purchase of some q701s I've noticed the sound is kind of lacking because my on-board or my yeti are both incapable of powering it properly. So I'm looking for some good dac/amp recommendations. 350 and under. The cheaper the better but I in no way want to sacrifice audio quality.

Thanks!
   Travis

I'm pretty sure this is what the majority of people would recommend.

Yea ive been looking at getting one through jds or them but i was wondering if there were any other options i hadn't heard off. Ive heard tons about the objective2 but nothing about competitors.

The o2 is basically the best thing out there. You don't have to get the combo. You can save some money and just get the o2 amp. Personally I would go through Mayflower because it is a tad cheaper and there are more options. I would recommend the aluminum volume knob addon though because it is really sweet.

My issue living in Canada is everything high end audio i purchase is over the internet without trying it. Im slightly concerned that the audio performance over my hero vi board or yeti wont even be noticeable for the 300 dollars. I don't mind spending money if i know and am happy with the product but with no way to try it, it is concerning to drop 300.

It's like that everywhere unless you live in a huge city like New York. Just grab the o2 amp for $130. You don't need the dac. If you need more amplification, you should notice the difference. There isn't too much of a difference with the dac.

I have the K612 which I think is similarly hard to drive and I have supreme fx on my maximus vi gene and an o2. If you can't get the volume loud enough then there will be a pretty noticeable difference. For me on my K612, there is a very minimal difference. I don't think you will be able to hear it but like I said before, If your specific motherboard isn't able to drive the headphones properly then it would be beneficial to get one.

Thank you very much. The perfect answer. it can drive it but i prefer to have open ear louder than closed to dampen any external noise. Thanks everyone!!!
