Iris xe ram limiting

I've been having issues with my iris xe graphics using much more vram than it needs to (minimum settings on fortnite at 720p using 5-6gb vram). Is there any way to lock it to 2 or 4 gb? Yes the laptop is 16gb so it automatically gives the iris xe graphics 8gb but already 6-8gb of ram is being used by the system on idle sooo no.

That's way too much you need to debloat your system, should be at or under 2GB idle on a clean system.

Bios probably, but im not sure why you'd want to do this. Limiting vram could mess with performance if it can't allocate what it needs.

Pfffff heck no. Even when checking EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING on razer cortex booster and using it it's still at 4-5gb of usage.

I blame dell bloatware though. Ton of dell stuff running in the background using anywhere from 0.2-1gb of ram. At least 3-4 different ones.

You can change the static assigned address space range. I can change it to for example, 256mb or 512mb with my work L15 gen2 (1165g7). Other than that it can still use more than 512mb of vram when needed and there is simply nothing I can do.

Things like razer software shouldn't be open at all, waste of resources.

Lucky you.

Razer uses 20mb of ram and after it's closed literally everything im sitting at 4.6gb here

Again I 100% blame dell bloatware. It just reopens no matter how many times you close it as well. Even with razer cortex. SupportAssist being the most annoying of all. Won't close and randomly starts maxing out my i5 1135g7

Bah bad talk about razer. Uses ~40-60mb of ram and maxes out at 0.6gb when it's actually doing stuff and goes back down after.

Closing it if anything hurts because then all the bloatware that CAN be closed reopens the moment razer closes and boosts usage from 4.6 to 7.4gb. (Intel arc control, microsoft edge, dell services that can be closed [not all are unclosable], discord, anti-virus, etc.)

A good system should look like this. Only bare minimum required for stuff to work, if you have anything more then you have stuff that can be disabled.
image.thumb.png.77981c5696f52184c070efed0c4e86ca.png

If you want your system to be fast and function as expected you need to do some serious debloating.
All the stuff you listed can and should be disabled. If theres anything that's annoying to disable like dell bloatware you can always find the executable file and delete it.

Do you use these background services? If not, you can still get rid of them to stop them hogging RAM

Yeah you gotta end it first. And if its one of those things that re-opens right away then you have to do it in safe mode.

I think that's better but you have to get rid of the other stuff.

Edge, intel system usage, support assist, ms office, razer game manager, microsoft text input, and the epic games stuff if you can find a way to not have the login problem.
Those are what I could see just based on that first screenshot. Go to settings for each peice of software and turn off "run in the background", anything else may have a more complicated method to disable it.

Did that already. Used Razer cortex to disable stuff I couldnt even see and then closed cortex 100% in task manager and this is now what im at.
