Budget (including currency):  Under 250

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games, especially wanting to play Starfield

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I just want to play Starfield and other open world, demanding games at a good framerate, and 1440p.

I have some notes that are pasted down below-

I used this to calculate this, don't know if it was accurate, but I think I labled everything right.

https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

Currently have a 500W psu

Everything loads up to 320W with the components

Replacing GPU

I have a GTX 1660 SUPER- 125 watts

12th gen Core i5-12400

2x16GB DDR4 sticks, 3200 mhz

1 NVMe m.2 ssd

2 different SATA SSDs

20% of total wattage power the PSU provides should be unused

Leaves  305 watts to use for a GPU

125W from GPU + 180W left to used = 305W

What would my headroom be? I asked AI and it said that the 305 watts of space would mean if I chose a headroom of 20%, I would have 61 watts less, sitting at 244 watts. Is this enough headroom, or too much?

GPU Options, considering a potential 244 watts of space?

Note: I will have to factor in the form factor of the GPU, since my case is not standard-dimensions.

The GPU slot is PCI X16.

I will also mention something else, which I probably should have included in the initial question, but I am upgrading a proprietary HP Victus 15L. Worried that the power pin connectors for proprietary GPUs for HP come few and far between.

Do you have 8 pin and 6 pin connectors on the PSU?  If so, how many?   Compare to the GPU's you look at.  Some 6650XT's need only 1 8pins.

For example:

this video said for the 500W psu, which i have, of the two you listed, only the 6700 XT is compatible. I think he is taking in TDP and physical size, not to mention the pins.

From what I see, theres a bunch of cables running out of the PSU, bunched up, but they arent connected to the PSU with pins, they must be soldered on from inside the unit. I see those same cables running to a CPU power plug, which is 4 pins, theres a 6 pin running into the proprietary GTX 1660 Super, and then theres some small little pin cables running onto the board. That might be more confusing that helpful.

Uhm, if the 6700XT is compatible, the 6650XT's are as well.
