Streaming laptop

My mom would like a laptop that has a nice screen for watching movies on and general web surfing.  I would like to recommend something that has a good screen and won't  quickly turn into e waste.  Would like to stay around or below $ 1,000 but willing to consider more expensive options. Would like to get an idea of what options are out there even if they exceed the ideal $1,000 or cheaper price point.  Would like her to end up with a device she can buy now and use for at least 5 years or more.

i would look into the dell xps laptops but depending on size and specs you can quickly get over $1k
