Front panel USBC giving power but not detecting devices. (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Troubleshooting

At first, the usbc in the front panel of my MSI MPG Gungnir 110r case didn't work at all because it wasn't plugged in correctly to the mobo (asus z790 prime-v) so I plugged it in correctly and now it outputs power but does not detect any device at all and shows the error "Device Descriptor Request Failed".

I suspect it might be that the usb-c on the case is 3.2 gen 2x2 and the header in my mobo is 3.2 gen 1 and that there is some compatibility issue.

The header on the motherboard fits kind of lose anyway, I don't know if I could've broken something trying to get it to fit tight.
