Budget (including currency):

Country: U.S.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: MMO, FPS, Survival-games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

My Current Rig:

MBD: ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega
CPU: Intel Core i9 9960X 16-core/ 32-thread 3.1GHz (4.5GHz TurboBoost)
RAM: 32GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4-3200 (4x8GB)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB GDDR6

I've had my current Rig for several years now and I would like to start planning for future upgrades so that it doesn't hit the pocketbook all at once.
How long should I expect to be able to push full gaming performance without issue and what would be the first to upgrade with the biggest impact?
thank you.

Hello... I think your PC will probably last you another year or 2. That being said if you want to see what a newer PC will look like then look at my list below. I would have gone Intel but the current Socket LGA 1700 will no longer have any more CPUs coming out so I went with an AMD Build. AMD has stated that AM5 will last at the very least until 2026 with new 2 more more new CPU Series Launches. I also threw in a new GPU, a AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB. This new PC should last a minimum of 8 years if not more and the only 2 things you might want to upgrade are the RAM and Storage within that time frame.

Please let me know what you think...

With these specification? Switch to 1440p and probably get a new GPU would be the best impact to be had. Look ahead into the 4000 super announcement in this CES, 8th of January at 8PM Pacific Time. Your CPU is fine although in performance per watt yours is definitely a relic of the time, so to speak.
