About two months ago my computer started having power issues. I sent in the power supply under rma and got a brand new unite. I have since tried booting the system and it either turns on for like half a second and then shuts off or gets stuck in a loop and does not completely post. I sent in the motherboard and put the new one in with the same problem. I am staring to think it is the power supply. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Correct

okay so yo get complete power shut downs? or just computer restarts? cause that makes sense., if you get complete power downs, so the fans stop spinning aswell, then there will probably be an power issue. if the system stays on, but just keeps rebooting, then there could be something with your hard drive, or your windows installation, is currupted.

My debug led will say 77 witch means nothing and then the matrix will turn off but the one fan I do have connected will continue to spin. The debug led never gets past the code 77. Have an Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z

@Andster29   PCH DXE Initialization (PCH module specific)

Call up Asus and let know about it and see what they can do to help you get past it.

I already have. That is when I sent in the motherboard and get it back. The issue started happening with the new power supply that had been from a rma. They told me the motherboard was fixed and was working when it left the center.

can you boot it up "without a hard drive" to get to bios atleast? Maybe it's the hdd.

Just tried this and I continued to have the same issues. I also tried the classic shorting the load pin to a ground pin with a paper clip. This did not work as well .

Wow! Bad day huh?  <_<

Do you think the issue is the power supply? Since the issue started with the new power supply and everything else has been replaced and is new. I am currently trying to barrow a friend's so I can test this theory out.

Technically there's loads to be done & it's going to take a lot of time & you're going to be irritated. Best option now is to see if your hard drive boots up on another system & make sure hard drive & it's data is secure.

Here's few to do list, hope it'll help.

Start by placing it on a cardbox or test bed if you have one

Reseat all the Wirings properly & recheck/start

Reseat the CPU in the socket & recheck/start

Remove the graphics card & go with on board display port & recheck

Swap ram modules for a similar ones or reseat it properly (make sure its in the right dimms)

exchange the powersupply & check

exchange fan or add some new ones

Remove all optical drives & recheck

Swap keyboard & mouse & recheck/start

Swap UPS or swap monitor itself.

Check whether the cpu socket pins are bent

Swap the main processor itself

and more....

Do post back tommorow, just take your time & dont over do the fix in a jiffy. & Good luck ;) you'll need it.

Details separate people.

All fine.

Don't have extra

Tried power supply with really old system and does not turn on with that system.

Checked the bottom of board and found one of the components off of its pad.

Sent Asus an email. will see what they say tomorrow.
