Hello yall,

i just got a dell optiplex 3020 from my dad

It has a quad core i7 4th gen

8gb of ram

Im planinng of adding ram an ssd and gpu

Im really not sure what gpu to get

I can get a 2nd hand 3060 for nice price but im not sure if it will be overkill

Is it too powerfull gpu and i just get bottlenecked or it will be good

Also if its overkill i would love a recommendation for something else.

Thank you so much✌️

Well, investing in a ddr3 optiplex is not a good idea overall, yet 8 GB more RAM will be good, did this for my 4770k but 5 years ago...

About the 3060 it should be fine IF you can power it with the Optiplex crap PSU, which is doubtful

Budget?

Also which 3020? The mid tower or sff model or usff?

Either way for a 3020 a 3060 needs a new psu and the 3020's psu is NON standard. So adapter cables are needed. Thats at least already 70$

Then a used 3060 is like 200$ usually

Then 8gb of ram which probably means 2x8gb since these normally come with 2x8gb so another 30 or so max

Also does it have a ssd yet?

It gets quite expensive quick and will still be a low level game pc
