Mac & PC : KVM?

Go to solution Solved by corrado33,

You can absolutely use a physical KVM, or you could use a KVM software like Synergy or the free version Barrier. (Both are cross platform.)

Personally, I've had more luck with barrier than synergy.

I've never noticed any latency.

Hello,

I need a little help with deciding the best solution.

I have a custom-built PC and a 2021 M1 Max Macbook Pro. I have an LG 27" Ultragear™ OLED QHD Gaming Monitor with 240Hz.

I want the ability to use my gaming mouse and keyboard for my PC and Mac. I don't know if a KVM would help with this.

I want to make sure I do not hinder latency for the mouse, keyboard, and 240hz.

What is the best way or product to achieve this? I am open to any product or solution.

Thank you for any help in advance!

I prefer to use hardware-base physical KVM switch for gaming monitor, gaming keyboard and gaming mouse for true no-latency switching in HID and video switching.

First of all, you need to find a KVM switch with following functions:

1.  Support high-resolution and high-refresh rate for gaming monitor sharing.

2. DDM-class KVM switch for no-latency switching to shared keyboard and shared mouse,

3. Built-in EDID emulation and full-time EDID feeding to all connected system/ laptop of the KVM switch for fastest video switching and video profile kept.

Attached is a sample setting for using the DDM-class DP1.4 / DP1.4(DSC) KVM switch to share a LG 240hz gaming monitor.

The sample showed dual-monitor sharing, but there is other model for just sharing one monitor.
