I think the adware has destroyed the drive? (The only admin on the system is me btw)

Not sure if it's a good idea to remove the drive and destroy it Idm either way its not important to me at all

Sounds dead to be honest. If it was old and dying scanning it might have pushed it over the edge. You can try formatting it again. This really has nothing to do with some silly browser redirect.

So, for some reason, Chrome has been extremely odd lately. For some responses, it keeps opening to random websites (see image below ) with the same name as the website that I was on. I have no idea why this is happening. I do have a couple of extensions in place, like Adgaurd, which I trust, and some others too which have been an issue in the past chrome is up to date as well and my extensions.

I wish I knew what was causing it I have cleared cookies and some settings, but still the same random issue. It also appears to be the same website(s) too.

Any ideas?

Use Malewarebytes to do a full scan, you probably have been infected. Also, I stopped using Chrome becuase of its security issues and some other things. I've switched to Firefox a long time ago and I suggest you do as well. There is nothing about Chrome that you will miss and Firefox is less resourse hungry as well.

One thing you might want to do is to reinstall google chrome. I went to r.linksprf.com and this is what I found:

That is why I use Adguard blocks all the Google trackers and others (if you enable it), and I can see detailed reports of the trackers, so this is very useful. I am very used to Chrome at the moment lmao

Step one is to disable all the extensions and see if it stops. It's definitely some kind of adware.

Yep, you're right after scanning my system, it has found a a lot of adware.

I've just realised that it is a different hard drive that's quite old and is infected

What is the best action going forward?

I went through and removed the adware and other issues and now formatting the infected drive then rescanning

Seems unlikely to me that adware on that drive is causing the problem (unless you are launching your browser from that drive) but that's a good idea to do regardless.
