Case fans

Can a computer run even if it doesn’t have enough case fans to fill every slot? I’m planning on buying the case and installing the three fans it comes with and then seeing how many more I need to buy from that. but I’m wondering if I should avoid actually using the computers till I can get those fans?

Worst it can do is run hot. I have built many and only used what came with the case.

You may want to watch a few PC videos, general ones and build guides.  This question indicates a rudimentary level of PC knowledge and it would behoove you to learn much more

 

But yeah, you can run a PC without ANY fans if you want.  It'll run as fast as it can, with heat being what slows it down.  Won't harm it in the least though.  Most people have a single fan in the back of their PC, many many office PC's are setup this way (read: millions)

How do you run it with no fans and keep it from throttling?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Oh you don't, but it won't hurt it though 🙂  There are some passive setups that run decently.

Long-term it has the potential to damage it if the temps are often high and uncontrolled, though.
