Budget (including currency): 3000ish$

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily gaming, i play alot of cyberpunk and mainly story driven games and modded BSG games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently im looking at giving my fiance my old 3070 and 5600g build and get myself a new system. currently ive been looking at upgrading to a 7800x3d for a new processor but im not sure what I want to do for a gpu. if i should keep my 3070 and get a replacement card for my fiance or if i should upgrade to preferably an NVIDIA card since im kinda a sucker for raytracing and dlss since latency doesnt matter as much as having a good cinematic experience.

The cooler may seem overkill for a chip that draws 60W in games, but it does make a notable difference due to the way the cache is stacked. If you're budgeting a monitor separately, it looks like it'll be a while before a 4090 can fit into this one unfortunately.

Hello, I would like to try and help you. I have been building PCs for over 30 years. With this type of budget you can pretty much get anything. I was able to make a Build List that is almost $1000 under your budget. I know that you said that you like NVIDIA but don't knock AMD GPUs. They have come a long way in a few short years and you can get RTX 4090 results with the RX 7900 XTX that has the same amount of VRAM and costs 2/3 less. If you still feel that you want a RTX GPU then you can always just switch it out.

If you have any questions please let me know. I can be reached here or I can be reached much quicker on Discord. Here is my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772

RX 7900 XTX + Ryzen 7 7800X3D vs RTX 4080 + i7 13700K - Test in 8 Games

As you can see in this Video the AMD Combo is slightly better in most of the Games.

Thanks for the great list, ive been considering the 7900xtx i think i might pull the trigger and see if i enjoy it more than my 3070 hopefully in the future amd can do something to try and match dlss and ray reconstruction since i really enjoy ray tracing as a gimick

I think they are. I have heard rumors that the Radeon RX 8000 & 9000 Series will have DLSS. So hopefully in a year or so they will have it.

Their cards are more serviceable than most from what I've seen; The 4080 Ventus is very basic, but it is beefy enough that the fan curve can be much more passive than the stock MSI jet engine profile. The Tomahawk series of motherboards has been solid for several generations.
