Hey guys, just recently became a member to ask a question. Should I upgrade my current pc?

I play alot of competitive games such as COD MW 2019, R6S, CSGO, just to name a few, I'm also really into Forza Horizon 5 and the new Forza Motorsport.

I like to have my games at max settings with above 120fps.

My PC specs are below..

Ryzen 7 5800X CPU

RTX 3090 FE GPU(I change GPU's from now and then as I buy and resell them but I am keen on buying a 40 or 50 series if they come out.)

Vertical GPU Mount

Lian Li O11 Dynamic RAZER case

Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WIFI) Motherboard

6x Corsair LL120 fans and 3x SL120 (I think that's what they are called)

4x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3200mhz CL16 RAM

Corsair H150i Elite Capellix 360mm AIO

Asus ROG STRIX 850W Gold PSU

CableMod White PSU Cables

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250gb SSD (Windows & applications on here)

Seagate 3TB 7200RPM HDD (For older non competitive games)

WD_BLACK SN850X (For newer competitive games)

I currently own one 75hz 27" display which I will be changing out with a 170hz 1440p display until I get a 240hz 1440p display as my main one and the 170hz will be for other things like discord, youtube music, etc. I'm not sure if I should get a 170hz and save some money for a 120hz or 144hz.

Any help will be appreciated as I am unsure whether to keep my current set up for another year or 2 before upgrading. 🙏

i'd say save your money and get a 144hz one, like this one Gigabyte G27Q 27.0" 2560 x 1440 144 Hz Monitor (G27Q) - PCPartPicker

if you're getting the performance you want I see no reason to upgrade

Thank you for liking my rig, its been built since last year april 1st, on that day I actually got it fired up with a gtx 1060 3gb and worked my way up to an rtx 3090 I got about 2 weeks ago, it's been a pleasure to play on.

About the gigabyte display, I've heard they had some troubles in the past and I'm not sure if I should go for one? Could you also put me in the right direction of a 240hz IPS 1440p 27" display? There's just so many and I found a asus tuf display that's got everything I want, especially when it overclocks to 260hz.

Thank you for responding so quickly!

Dude you basically havea  top spec pc dont bother upgrading just enjoy the games and ignore the pc best advice I can give anyone. ONLY check on the pc for its at least once a year dusting with some compressed air or a pc blower/duster or when its really sturggling with a game and its not software.

Also skip max settings they are MADE to run badly and offer almost none to ni visual improvement for a massive performance impact. They literallt exists as a status item basically and are pointless :p.

Look at a gigabyte m27q x. Dont need 240hz unless you are a pro pro gamer as the diff between 144hz and 240hz is extremely minimal

240hz is kind of a need id say, after playing on 75hz display with having around 200-300fps is cod mw2019 kind of defeats the whole purpose of having that much fps at max settings. I'll definitely check out the gigabyte displays thank you

You kinda have to see fps as something you only need up to a certain point. For example at 60 - 120hz you are going from 16,67ms of frametime to 8,33. Which is a big jump as 16ms is quite noticable to the human brain whilst sub 10ms gets a hell of a lot harder. The jump from 120 to 240 is once again a division by 2 4,17 but to our human brain that jump is almost not noticable and the amount is also smaller even tho it's still half as much.

So you really don't need it. But you can have it the g27m x is 240hz and a great display.

Okay that's quite a lot of great information, Thanks a lot and I will definitely take it into consideration when the time comes to buying a monitor!
