im going to build a my first comp ever (yay) and was wondering which mobos to choose from

i would be going for intel 4770k with R9 290 vapor-x

and my question is im comtemplating between Vi hero vs VII hero

VII hero right is about $30 USD different from VI hero and was wondering if investing 30 more dollars for z97 is good?

I prob wont be upgrading cpu for a while, so would new chip sets offer more to overcome 30 dollars difference?

There both bad investments the only ROG board i recommend getting is the Z97 Ranger as its not ridiculously over priced also to answer your question if u dont plan on upgrading for atleast 3-4 years dont bother with the z97 board unless u want sata express.

The biggest addition is sata express and without devil's canyon I think it's better to save the $30 and go with the VI Hero.

Z97 supports the new M.2 sata standard. You still have 8 sata 6gbps ports. The audio is definitely going to be a bit better.

actually i chose VI hero because i have no idea and was the most popular build. lol

can anyone suggest me decent MOBO for its price (if they are not over 250) that will be good if not better than VI HERO

Since maybe the P67 chipset the mainboard dosen't matter when it comes to performance. If you don't plan to upgrade buy the board that offers the stuff you want. Something like a ASUS Z97-K, or a Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H is all you really need.

love this video.

Im glad i have had the opportunity to test three z87 boards each at different price segment.

Mainboards are not the same in terms of overclocking stability and overclocking performance.

I wanted to believe cheap boards perform the same, sadly I can not.

my favs at around 200.
