Planning to upgrade

Currently running a 5600x with a RTX 3070 and was considering upgrading to either am5 or a 13th gen intel cpu and mb and it will mostly be used for gaming and wondering what the disadvantages and advantages of both would be?

If it was me, I wouldn't bother until you upgrade the graphics card.

 

The main advantage of AM5 is the potential for future CPU upgrades, whereas 1700 is expected to be a dead socket now.

 

13th gen would (if you buy the right board) allow you to keep your existing memory, whereas AM5 will require DDR5.

what games are you playing, and at what resolution? what settings do you want to run, and what fps are you looking for? depending on those answers, a cpu upgrade may not be they way to go first, i would expect more benefit now from a gpu upgrade.

Currently running a heavily modded dayz most of the time or a heavily modded Minecraft and it’s mostly at 2k resolution but also starting to get into 3d rendering and some CAD stuff as well
