I was thinking of buying Asrock b650m hdv m.2

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650M-HDVM.2/index.asp

which have 2 m.2 slots

1 is pcie gen5

and 2nd one is gen 4

and going to buy a gen 4 ssd

should i put this in 1st slot(gen 5) or 2nd slot(gen 4).if i put this on 2nd slot will it make any diff as i heard that the 2nd slot is connected through mobo's chipset and generally slow compare to 1st slot which is connected directly to the processor

Unless you plan to buy a Gen 5 NVMe later on (waste of money at this point), it doesn't matter where you put the drive. The port directly connected to the CPU has some performance advantage in terms of latency, but you're unlikely to notice it outside of benchmarks.

The only thing you might need to do is update the boot order in BIOS when you swap it around. Your OS could potentially have an issue with it, but in general it should just work as before.

There's almost no noticeable difference between Gen3 and Gen4 already. Buying a Gen5 is a waste of money for the foreseeable future. I wouldn't expect prices to go down any time soon, it's simply not something that is needed in home environment.

then i will buy the same m.2 but in bigger size like 2 or 4 tb

and btw my mobo is coming with 2 sata cables what are their uses, like ik they get used in adding extra ssd , are there more uses of it?

if i can only add ssds with those sata cables which ssd should i go with thet are generally provide only 500mb/s idk if they are worth anything other than storing movies and photos

Yes they are for adding SATA SSDs or HDDs. 500 MB/s is plenty fast already. For a lot of use cases storage stops to be the limiting factor even at "only" 500 MB/s. I have two SATA SSDs, one Gen3 NVMe SSD and one Gen4 NVMe SSD.

Outside of benchmarks, its difficult to tell any difference between these drives in day to day tasks. Few games had a benefit moving from SATA to NVMe and even fewer had a benefit going from Gen3 to Gen4. Unless you spend a lot of time copying files around or use software that does a ton of IO it really doesn't matter that much.
