Continuous Stuttering

Hey everyone. 

 

Ive been attempting to chase down stuttering issues with my pc, to no avail. 

 

Specs: Gigabyte 4070 OC

5800X3D 

32gb gskill 3600mghz cl16

650 watt seasonic gold

x570 aorus elite 

 

Ive done basically everything you can think of. DDU used to uninstall graphics and audio drivers. On the latest bios. Fresh wipe of windows 11 on a 990 pro 2tb. All games downloaded on said ssd. Im completely stumped and would appreciate some insight from people more experienced than me.

Latest SSD firmware (Samsung Magician)?

 

Latest chipset drivers downloaded from AMD?

 

Latest GPU vBios?

 

RAM set to XMP?

 

CPU temperatures? Which cooler?

One easy thing you can do is install GPU-z and click on the sensors tab. Let it run on the background and try running some games and applications that are prone to the stuttering. 

Take a look at the GPU-z graphs and down the list you'll find a PerfCap Reason parameter. It tells you what limits your GPU performance. It can be useful if this is a GPU problem.

If this is not a GPU problem, I suggest you tweak some parameters to know if it changes anything. For example, try running your RAM at 3200 MHz instead of 3600. Do you overclock anything ? Try removing the overclock. You can also try disabling Fastboot. It makes no difference on your system and is prone to cause issues by not allowing Windows to fully shutdown.

Yes I have the latest firmware for the 990. AMD chipset were recently updated. I havent touched my vBios on the gpu though. Ram is set to xmp, 3600. 5800x3d is undervolted slightly and max temps im seeing on cinabench are 75-80. Running the Lian Li Galahad 360 AIO.

Will for sure give GPU-Z a try. My 5800x3d is undervolted, but I have taken it off and back to stock and played some games but the stuttering still occurred.

Just updating the GPU Bios.

 

Also, are you on 1080p or 1440p?

Is it a similar process as to a motherboard bios update? Ive honestly never updated a gpus bios. Im on 1080p.

PerfCap was only saying idle, but I do have a log if youre interested in looking.

Idle means that your GPU can do more work but the computer is not asking for more.

The bottleneck (or source of the issue) lies elsewhere.
