In the process of building a system for a friend.  I'm indecisive on the GPU and CPU.  Currently I have a R5 3600 or R9 3900x and 1660 TI.

This will be used for 1080p and partial gaming.

While I can use what I already have (since something is better than nothing) but I'm trying to determine if it would be worth it to replace either the CPU (R5 5600 to R7 5700x) or the GPU (RX 6600 to RX 6700XT), keeping the spend around $300ish (I do see 6700xt is around $320).   I thought I read that a 6700XT will bottleneck a 3600 at 1080, but was ok at 1440p.

Based on what I mentioned what would you buy (if anything)?

If I shouldn't get a newer CPU, which CPU should I go with ( 3600 or 3900xt)?

Thanks

it would depend on the application as the parts simply existing in the machine have no bottleneck with no load and 1440p would be a resolution vs a load.
